Eliminating Standardized Testing: One Test Does Not Fit All

Every year, thousands of students across the United States spend countless hours preparing for the SAT or ACT, hoping to achieve a perfect score. These standardized tests allow for an easy comparison among students when applying for colleges, but perhaps there is a better solution. Eliminating standardized testing would reduce stress in students, encourage more creativity, and allow colleges to more accurately determine a student’s aptitude.

If the SAT/ACT were no longer administered, education would gain a newfound respect from students, and there would be more focus on real-world problem solving. The most effective option for a better outlook on a student’s life would be to take the focus off standardized testing, and move it to the aspects of the real-world that a multiple choice test cannot measure. One test does not fit all.
